A massive fire has broken out in Birmingham, with dozens of firefighters racing to an industrial state near Tyseley amid reports a factory had gone up in flames. Crews were alerted to the emergency incident just after 7pm on Wednesday, January 7, initially deploying a crew of 40 firefighters to tackle the blaze. West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) soon doubled the number of firefighters at the scene, as the fire continued to engulf up the large brick building on Steeleys Road. Earlier tonight, the fire service said: "We have 10 crews in attendance at Seeleys Road, Greet, Birmingham , where they have responded to a large fire." Since 7pm, WMFS have almost doubled the number of firefighters on site, with almost 80 crew members now at the scene of the factory fire. A total of 14 fire engines, three hydraulic platforms, specialist units, and fire officers make up the current squad engaged in the emergency response at Tyseley Industrial Estate. Crews have shared images of the fire, showing the large building up in flames. Firefighters have confirmed these flames have now claimed all of the 100 metre x 40 metre factory. Firefighters remain at the scene and are currently battling to bring the fire under control. Crews also advised anyone within the area to steer clear of the industrial estate. Local residents are also warned to shut any open windows and doors to avoid the inhalation of fumes or smoke. You can follow our live coverage of the incident here .
